Christmas for Crafters...

It's been a busy time here...shipping christmas orders, decorating, shopping..and all the other joys of the Holiday Season. But I came across this in my email and thought I would share it with fellow crafters:

Twas the night before Christmas,
I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.
Could it be cardstock or kits or lace?
Or a Chopper, I said, with a smile on my face.
And that's when I heard him, "Hi Santa" I said.
"You know....good little girls should be in their beds."
"I know I should Santa, and now I've been caught,
But I was just so excited to see what you brought."
"Well, let's take a look in this room where you work.
"He shook his head quickly, and left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear.
"You've got enough crap, I'll see you next year!"

Christmas Decorating & Other Holiday Endeavors

We've started decorating for Christmas and I thought I would share one of our favorite decorating ideas with you. The first Christmas that Chris and I spent together we came up with the idea of decorating my kitchen cupboards to look like Christmas presents. The kids enjoyed it so much that we do it every year now... and it's so simple. It just adds an extra magical touch to our Holiday baking!Beginning tomorrow on my recipe blog, I'll be posting my "Twelve Recipes of Christmas". Everyday from Dec. 1st through Dec. 12th, I'll be posting our favorite Holidays recipes...mostly cookies... just in time for Christmas baking! And I have another blog eandeavor! My Giveaway Blog, Sugar Creek Giveaways, has been transformed into The Primitive Peddler, where I'll feature Giveways, weekly Artisan features, as well as Gift ideas for all occasions! Beginning tomorrow, I'll be featuring a holiday gift ideas the "Twelve Days of Christmas" series so be sure to stop by and check that out as well.

Sad News from the Farmhouse

As many of you know, I belong to a wonderful group on Etsy know as the Old Farhmhouse Gathering. Lastnight we were all informed that our group founder Linda Foster, known on Etsy as Prairie Rose, passed away on Thanksgiving Day following a heart attack. She was a wonderful friend to all who met her and will be greatly missed. If you entered the Farmhouse Holiday Gift Basket Giveaway, we ask that you have patience with us during this difficult time as we try to figure out how to proceed with this.
In loving memory of our friend.
Our Prairie Rose,
Linda Foster

Thanksgiving Wishes

Why is it as we get older time seems to pass so quickly or perhaps the Holidays are just arriving earlier each year? Although we were invited to spend Thanksgiving with family, my two boys and I opted for a quiet Thanksgiving at home this year. My youngest boy, Jonathan, is quite happy about this. Although he has mild Autism, he just doesn't respond well to large crowds and is quite a home-body. The oldest boy was home on leave this past weekend so we had some family time with him. Unfortunately, he had to report back to base this week and couldn't stay for the Holiday. He's been in the Navy a year now and I'm feeling a bit "old" or maybe it's just a bit of empty-nest syndrome...lol. Today, Matthew, my fourteen year old, and I are going to be baking pumpkin pies together and getting the other fixins' ready. And tomorrow will be a nice, quiet day filled with watching the parade, playing Yahtzee and Scrabble, and of course eating Turkey. I would be lying if I said the holidays weren't a bit difficult this year. Chris has been on my mind a great deal this week and I'm missing him terribly....(he so loved my Thanksgiving dinners!) But all in all, we still have a great deal to be thankful for. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
